China’s Nanyang City Center will be installing another 3,000 LED streetlights in 2015, by then the city’s energy saving streetlights will reach 20,000 in total, according to a Nanyang Evening News report. Nanyang will become the first city in China with 20,000 streetlights.

Recently, the city management signed a LED streetlight Energy Management Contract (EMC) with Fox-Energy Technology. By the end of 2015, the city will add another 3,000 LED streetlights for special lighting applications including bridges, tunnels, and plazas.

Since 2013, Nanyang City has made lighting up the city a major civilian construction. The city has been managing its constructions through five major extended engineer projects. The engineering project mainly involves major roads leading to the city, back alleys, and other town roads, neighborhoods and dead corners. As of Dec. 10, 2014, the city has replaced a total of 16,143 LED streetlights. The new LED streetlights will be installed in the southern roads from the train station, major roads in Baihe, Xuefeng Road and other new constructed roads.

According to city management deputy director Chaomin Yue, the city center’s LED streetlights will reach 20,000 by 2015 and cover major roads, alleys, and roads off the main traffic. Nanyang City will also become one of the Chinese provinces with the most LED streetlights.
